Last week I got a fancy new iPad. This created the perfect excuse to get crafty! I got my stitch on and whipped up a zippered and padded iPad pouch with a pocket for styluses.
I used some awesome shiny Amy Butler oilcloth that I've been hoarding for years. Technically, it's not oilcloth (made with linseed oil) but rather laminated fabric. But laminated fabric doesn't sound as cool, does it? If you'd like to learn more about oilcloth/laminated fabric, this is a great article. Originally, I had grand plans to learn how to sew a raincoat and then figured I'd make the raincoat out of this fabric. It never happened, so I figured it was time to cut it up and use it! Scary!
Here's a peek at the pocket side:
I used velcro as my pocket closure and colored it with a Copic marker to blend a bit better.
The inside of the pouch is padded…
…and roomy enough to take my iPad, keyboard, and a charger!
I'm getting better at putting in a zipper.
Though, I'll admit that I should probably invest in a zipper foot for my machine. I'll bet it would make things a lot easier!
This was a fun project that only took me a few hours from concept to final product! I want to make another one — maybe with hand painted fabric — but how many iPad pouches can a girl have?!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love oil cloth! You did such a great job on the pouch. Great idea on coloring the velcro closure to match. I would have never thought of that one, but will keep that in mind for the future.

Girl can never have to much of anything colorful. A Pouch for each mood change. Believe me I know at 65.

A sipper foot is a very good thing and once you use it, you’ll wonder how in the world you did without it. I don’t see how you do it without it but you. Love your make do attitude! (But get the sipper foot.)

How many iPad cases does a girl need? At least one for each day of the week – but like Robin said, one can never have too many, so sew to your hearts content, and definitely make some hand painted fabric ones. Definitely!
