Leading up to #CarveDecember: Stamp Carving Tutorials

Sunday is December 1 and the first day of #CarveDecember2024!

It’s hard to believe, but I started #CarveDecember 11 years ago in order to share my love of stamp carving with others. Challenging strangers on the internet to carve one stamp every day in December turned out to be a great way to make friends, get a lot better at carving, and demonstrate how easy it can be to get started. In the photo above, you can see just a small sampling of the stamps I’ve carved over the past eleven years.

This year, I’m hosting #CarveDecember2024 on my art education instagram account: @myartpracticecommunity.

To get the countdown started, I’m posting a short stamp carving tutorial video on that account each day between now and December 1. I will also have a longer tutorial video on my YouTube page later this week.

And whether you’re a beginner or a pro, please join us in and carve one stamp or many stamps over the month of December!

  • I am really looking forward to it – I joined in for the first time last year, having rediscovered my love of carving through 2023, and astonished myself with getting a carve done for every day. I was just wondering about the hashtags? Because we know that Instagram has completely nerfed hashtags (which makes me so sad – it was lovely to be part of art challenges and feel like you were part of a whole community of strangers arting together, commenting on each other’s work, etc… and that’s all gone). what alternatives do we have, if any? I will use the hashtag, of course, but I know that means my stuff will likely not be seen and I won’t see most other people’s either, though I will try looking through the month nonetheless. Any suggestions?
