If you're like me, you have no idea what PAX East is.  It's a huge gaming convention — board games, video games, console games, games, games, games.

There's stuff to buy….

…and games to play.

Side Note: I walked in a skeptic, but some college friends (two photos above) taught  me how to play Settlers of Catan and I immediately taught (same day) my other friends (photo above) how to play Settler of Catan.  I think I might be addicted!

There were lots of costumes too:

Opportunities for selfies abounded:

And plenty of interesting ideas to grab you:

It was an overwhelming madhouse of game love!

As a non-fan, I don't think I'd go again.  There was simply too much that I didn't get and wasn't interested in.  As an artist and a human being, I'm super glad that I went to bathe in all of that creativity and excitement!  From costumes to t-shirts to packaging to graphics, art and crafting really are everywhere!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I’ve never been but I could get into shopping for cute little game pieces (that I wouldn’t use for the actual games) and wearing the costumes could be fun. Thanks for sharing your creative pics Julie.

  • Hi Julie,
That looked like fun. I liked to watch I think it is called Coma Con. Where they would dress up in costumes like the virtual game person. They would get judged on their costumes. I think YAYA was a judge. I really like watching how the contestants made their outfits.
Ha Ha, I too use to play a computer video game from 2000 to 2015. Till windows ten came along and ruined my game for me.
Ha ha I used to play the Sims EA games 1,2,3. I really liked it.
Virtual world and little virtual people that you could control. I loved being able to build houses and decorate them. My Sims always had a great rich life. Great jobs all had college degrees and made it big in their game of life.
My kids had the Risk game weekend. That would get crazy as some would get to upset when they lost their country. Ha ha the fun of gaming.
    Happy Thursday

  • LAUGH OUT LOUD!!! The faucet head guy was so simple and funny! He needed a tire valve stem too. So much creativity abounds. My nieces go to a lot of these type things and they have so much fun coming up with costume ideas and making them. It was fun to see all the pics, thanks.

  • My husband and his friends go to PAX West a lot so when I saw you went to PAX East I knew there would be some great pics of interesting people in costume. I do love playing Settlers of Catan and was laughing that your friends taught you that one and you liked it. Most of my husband’s friends tease me that Settlers of Catan is the “gateway drug” to more games. LOL. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

  • Hi Julie I’m a Michiganer I live in the northern woods, the excitement here was seeing a possum run away when my neighbor moved his shed today. He didn’t have no costume on, I have 2 cars go by my house, one is the mail lady and the other is the school bus.Thank you for sharing PAX East very interesting,, I wonder if the guy with a water faucet had supper glue holding that on, OUCH! Hate to be him. I love your art, I have someof your stencils. Would love to take a class from u some day. Mean while I will enjoy the peace and quiet.
