I have a super fun project for you today! We are going to take advantage of the fact that the ScanNCut makes cutting shapes from stiff felt quick and easy.
We are making this booklet-style felt needle case:
These needle cases make great gifts and can be customized for the recipient with a variety of motifs and even their name! Watch the video for the how-to:

I love to create "technique" videos for the ScanNCut. These are short and sweet videos that share an important tip or how-to about your ScanNCut machine. Today I'm tackling two questions I've gotten from sewers, who are also ScanNCut users. The first is about PES files.
In case you're not familiar, PES files are digital machine embroidery files. They can be used with certain models of the ScanNCut (550, 650, 225 and the new Disney Machine). Watch the video to see how they work with the DX225:
Here is an example of an embroidery design stitched out:
And then using my ScanNCut, I was able to draw it:

And foil it:
Pretty cool, right? And if you watched the video, you know that each embroidery design actually offers you multiple other choices of designs to play with!
And now, I want to share a bit about these applique designs that are built into the DX225.
One of the very first quilted pieces I ever made was an applique Hawaiian Quilt pillow cover. Entirely hand stitched and made on vacation in Hawaii. This was sometime in my 20s before I owned a sewing machine. These designs make me think of that pillow!
In the video, I break down how these patterns are meant to be used — blue lines vs. black.

I bought my machine from a dealer. I wish they had classes so I could take full advantage of my machine. On line classes are great but it’s so much fun to get together with a group of like minded souls. I guess retailers don’t have people capable of teaching or they haven’t figured out if we come to a store for a class we make purchases. I love your enthusiasm and your videos are the best.
