Tutorial: Digital Curled Edges

Last week I mentioned that if folks were interested, I would share how to create a curled edge in Photoshop.  Well, you spoke up and I listened.  So here is the tutorial!

Here's the before & after:

Before&after
Watch the video for the how-to:

As a side note, I will say that becoming proficient in Photoshop makes so many things about blogging so much easier.  If you have the time and are so inclined, I think it's really worth the learning curve.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Thanks Julie. Very interesting. And thanks for the recommendation on the digital package on photoshop. I’ve been looking for something like that as I find I really do better if I see how something is done in addition to read. Curious, you usually film and upload on you tube, but you used vimeo today. A stupidity showing moment may follow, you are warned… Vimeo and you tube are kind of the same thing right? Why use one vs. the other. Thank you for doing that I found a lettering video out there that was really interesting that I think I missed (or maybe it is my partial amnesia) so I got a bonus. Thanks!

  • That was an awesome tutorial, very well explained. However, I have PSE 8 and I don’t have those options on my layers dropdown. Is this feature available on PSE 10 do you know? I can try a transform image on PSE 8, but it never allows me to move that middle part UP – I can move the sides down, but then I essentially have a longer image… any thoughts? Thanks!

  • Thanks Julie…that was neat to learn! I had no idea what all photoshop could do. Question: I do not scrap digitally but I do manipulate photos and print journaling cards, etc. Do you think it would work to print these out and then cut them out for layouts or is this technique more for digital scrapping and or blogs.
    Thanks

  • This looked so do-able that I FINALLY got brave enough to open my newly purchased CS5 for the first time and DO something in it!
And now, I have a curled-edge version of a stock photo of a koala that came on my computer. Can’t wait to start playing more with my own photos.
Thank you for helping me to take the plunge!
