You guys! I'm so super stoked about the new ScanNCut 2! Brother really listened to all of the feedback users have been providing and packed this new machine with lots of awesome-ness. It's still ScanNCut, only better.
Watch the video for a quick tour of the new machine:
Some of my new favorite features:
- bigger screen
- RGB scanning
- 12×24 scanning (dealer model only)
- so many more intricate built-in designs
- wireless connectivity to SNC Canvas
In addition, next month I'll be sharing some of the awesome new accessories (Univeral Pen Holder anyone?) as well as the cool new features in SNC Canvas (you saw the ability to use it on your iPad in my Halloween Card video).
But first, let me take you through what a difference RGB scanning makes!
Here's a close-up look at the details I was able to cut:
I hope you're as excited as I am! I'll be on HSN with the ScanNCut 2 on November 12!
Thanks for stopping by!

Disclosure: While I am a paid spokesperson for the Brother ScanNCut, it is a machine that I love and use!
Oh wow I just discovered your beautiful website after researching the Brother Scan N Cut. I can’t believe this model has come out just when (as in two days ago) I purchased the CM550DX machine. And while I love it I was so disappointed that there isn’t an option to connect to a computer. I spent an absolute fortune on it because .. Australia! Our exchange rate is so bad! $699 here. And now this model has just been released. So disappointed. It looks exactly like what I wanted. I really love your website though. Thank you for all the wonderful tutorials.

Wow I too have one of the older models, maybe I can sell it and repurchase this one. The new one seems at a lower price than I paid originally. Oh well I must say I have enjoyed the one I have and have used it quite a lot. Perhaps I’ll consider a donation to a favorite childrens’ craft charity.
Love the new one and the new features.

P.S What is with the 12 x 24 scanning being only for dealers… does that mean we can’t use or cut on a 12 x 24 mat with this new one?

Any of the SNC machines (1 or 2) can cut 12×24. Only the current dealer model can scan 12×24.

I have been making Halloween decorations with my scan n cut CM550DX. Having lots of fun. I even made a pumpkin tea light candle holder and for the first time I used my 12×24 mat and cut card stock that is 12×24. That was fun and I learned something. How to use the 12×24 mat.
I also have many of the new items purchased they will come to me soon. I bought the universal Pen holder. I am interested to see if that will use sharpie fine tip markers.
Love the videos Julie I will be watching you on the 12th of November on HSN.

Julie, what’s the maximum THICKNESS the ScanNCut2 will cut? I want to cut sheets of Craft Foam. I loved your YouTube video that you did on the craft foam coasters. But SNC1 only cuts very thin sheets of craft foam. I’m hoping the SNC2 will cut thicker sheets. Thanks. 🙂

Hi Julie,
love the glitter designs. How did you do that? I cut my very first glitter paper for Halloween decorations. They came out really nice.
Imzadi, if you do not mind I will tell you what craft foam I used for cutting stamps. I followed Julies stamp video and I cut out 15 stamps. I used craft foam that I bought from Michael’s craft store.
Comes with 65 sheets 6×9 It is 1/8th inch thick. I then cut out backs with the same foam to place the stamps on. I used craft foam glue to put them together. They came out really nice and are usable stamps.
The 1/8 inch craft foam went through the machine with no problem. Cut out really nicely. You have to remember it cannot be too thick as it has to be able to go through the machine.
If the 1/8inch is not thick enough you can always cut two pieces and glue them together or get the craft foam that has a sticky glue backing. With that said you will have to buy to products one with the sticky glue backing and one without.
You can also get a sheet of Cork and glue the coasters to that. So that they do not fold or bend.
With this craft foam my stamps did not fold or bend. They were not flimsy. You might need a different kind of glue for the cork.
Hope this helps out.
