Studio Snippet 22: Mixed Media Artwork in Progress

I'm working on some new artwork in the studio this week.

It's very much WIP – work in progress.  Watch the video for more:

As you can see from the video, I'm currently working through the final stages of a couple of mixed media pieces — doing my best to figure out how to push them to the finished stage. I'm using my knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Art to guide my choices.

You can learn more about how to use the Elements and Principles of Art in your artistic practice in Design Boot Camp

Registration is now open for 2024.

As for the piece that I worked on in the video…

…I think it needs a few more layers before it's done.  It went from overly lush to overly constructed.  Making artwork is a constant back and forth.  Time to get back to work!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I liked the white on top and how you just paint it on. i don’t know if you’d call it spacial relations but you have it. i need to think about where I’d paint out a little more but not agonize. also, repaint if I don’t like is not second nature yet.

  • In this video, the collage/painting was so pretty before you painted over it. But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
