I had a wonderful group of artists in my live online Screen Printing at Home class. Here are two nice notes I got from students after class:
"Thanks for an awesome class Julie! You're an excellent teacher. I came away with a much better understanding of the process and some good ideas for the future."
"Thanks for demystifying screen printing — so much simpler than I thought, and no fancy anything required! I can't wait to start playing!"
I thought you might like to see some of the demo pieces I created during class. We printed on paper and fabric. I shared several different techniques for creating screens. I shared my favorite technique for printing variegated color. And I demonstrated some of mistakes printers often make that result in either incomplete or bleeding prints.
This was the first screen that I made during class. It looks great on both paper and fabric:
Screen printing ink is wonderfully opaque and slightly dimensional. You can easily print on either dark or light surfaces.
You can see a detail of the variegated color printing above and below:
I think it looks so cool when the paint isn't just a single flat color.
Most of our screens were small, but I did make one big one during class:
I had a ton of fun in class and I'm so glad that everyone else did too. I hope that you will join me for a class sometime soon! If you'd like to purchase a replay of the screen printing class, you can do so HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!
