This year's 100 Day Project has been challenging, fun, exasperating, exhilarating, and everything in between. Take a peek at my most recent pieces of "art botanical." You'll see layered printmaking, mixed media collage, acrylic painting, and more!
I counted the stencils and prints I shared earlier in the week for days 78 & 79:
And then it was back to mixed media collage:
I'm enjoying mixing up my media, substrates, subjects, and more. However, I do see some similarities across many of these pieces. Do you?
Here's what I see:
- Green, green, green, green!
- Also lots of purple, pink, and orange (which makes sense with all the green).
- I tend to like/create more leaves than flowers.
- I often use a single off-center focal point.
- Outside of botanicals, I use lines and circles the most.
Have I missed anything? I'd love to know what you see!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love so many of these creations! I really like the direction of your compositions. Visually so interesting! And especially love the green and orange combination with verticals. Bravo on this collection!

That orderly little patch of black dots in the next-to-last one seems like a real departure for you. Is that the one you “auditioned”? It really draws my eye, and I like it… but wondering if you do.

The first five are my absolute favourites. I love the layering, the colour combos and the leaf designs you chose. In particular, I love the use of stripes, dots, stars etc. in contrast to the botanicals.I would love to find these in fabrics.

I see blues, too. The plant in the piece above the stencils always me think of “under the sea” plants. Love your stencils.

So inspiring and beautiful. I am drawn to these 100 day challenges, but just have not managed to fit the daily habit into my day. I don’t punish myself over it though; that’s why it’s a challenge, it challenges me to try, at least weekly – and that’s a habit too.

I definitely see a relationship in many of these – layers. Layers of color; layers of paint and paper; layers of texture. All coordinating a dance between the linear and organic, creating tremendous interest in the layers of this series.
