I have fallen down a rabbit hole of nature printing and I loooooove it!  Here are my most recent layered monoprints for my 100 Day Project (These images are embedded from instagram.  If you can't see them, click HERE.):

These nature prints are some of my all time favorites.  I'm really loving printing with leaves and sticks and flowers and everything that I can pull up out of my backyard.  I'm already looking around my neighborhood for different shapes and textures than the ones I can pull out of my own lawn!

My live online Gelatin Printing for Beginners class is on July 5.  In class I'll be going over all the skills you need to create beautiful gelatin prints!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Julie, if you haven’t already, try Golden Open paint , not so much for layered prints, but when you want to print leaves with a simple background. Tip to get really clean print is to pull first print, leave leaves (ha) in place, use Deli paper to pick up paint from the background. It may take 3 or 4 sheets to pick up everything in the background. Then remove the leaves and print on whatever paper you want, including another Gelli print. The Deli is wonderful because it lets you see remaining paint, and really press around stems to clean up all.
If I’m using other paints, I use the time while the leaf prints are thoroughly drying to clean up the background with a wee paper towel or cotton swab.
Monoprinting is so spontaneous, the discovery so much fun!

  • I absolutely agree! I use deli paper every single time I make monoprints — with actual nature foliage and without. I have used Golden Open Acrylics in the past, but I prefer a quicker drying paint when I print. Have a great day!
