Hello out there! Here's a little bit about life right now:
This is me right now:
My current art obsession is: This Julie's Word's stencil:
I've been using it all over my faces and paintings and throughout my art journal.
My current life obsession is: Sleep Stylers. My Mom saw them on Shark Tank and ordered them for me.
Essentially, they're soft rollers you put in your hair at night and then you wake up with pretty curls. I have curls, but if I sleep on wet hair, my hair is usually a hot mess. Therefore I've always been a morning shower person. However, with the Sleep Stylers, I really can shower at night and wake up with "done" hair. It's pretty cool. Not easy to sleep on at first, but I'm getting used to it. And on days with early morning appointments, it's nice to be able to shower the night before!
I'm loving: Ikea!
I have ordered from Ikea online before, but I made my first in-person visit to Ikea last week. It was amazing. So much fascinating design. I loved it! I was just soaking up all the pattern and color and shapes and space configurations. Definitely an inspiring afternoon!
I'm hating: Got my first Stitch Fix box. If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, it's a mail order clothing company. You fill out a long profile and then they send you five hand picked items. They've been around for a long time and a lot of the bloggers I follow wax poetic about Stitch Fix. They show their boxes full of beautiful clothes on their blogs and on instagram. So, I was super excited when Stitch Fix announced they were going to go into plus size (above a size 12). What I got was kind of disappointing. I made a video about it:
I got a lot of advice from folks on YouTube and Facebook on how to get a better fix and one of them was to create a pinterest board with items that represented my style. And so, I did. I'm hoping I'll hate the next box less.
My home is: Clean! Clean! Spectacularly clean! After living in a disaster zone for forever and a year, I finally got things straightened up and organized. I'm deliriously happy about it!
A very nice man brings me flowers with some regularity. :)

Julie, If I were you, and since you are keeping the white blouse I’d either dye it or paint it. But I agree – those pieces were awful. They didn’t “know” you at all. I heard last night that Amazon is going to do a similar thing. Might be worth checking out. Love the roses and so happy for you to have a nice man in your life. And can’t wait to see your new art project.

First thing I thought of when I saw the white blouse is “Perfect canvas to work on!” If you don’t like the bell sleeve just cut it off and put a hem or a trim on it. I don’t have the courage to even try something like that mail order thing!

I popped in to suggest that you paint the blouse and see a lot of other people thought the same thing. We know you and love your artsy style! And as a bonus, if you dipped the bell sleeves in paint no one will know.

Thank you for your brave sharing of your Stitch Fix box. I too like the blouse. I personally would take the $50-60 and buy one piece I love and then wear it to death. Your pad looks wonderful!!! And that man that bings the flowers–what a sweetie! Hope he keeps that up.

Re the Stitch Fix white blouse sleeves … it’s an EASY fix to simply *remove* the offending ruffle-thing. What you will be left with is a simple elbow length sleeve. Voila. 🙂

Hi Julie — I agree with all your thoughts on the clothes and necklace you received from Stitch Fix… I like the peasant blouse with the pink and black flowered skirt — that seems “you” but I agree it would be better with better-tailored sleeves and skirt. You’re looking slim and when you look and feel good, ya gotta show off that figure, and these outfits don’t do it! Those checkered pants — good if you want to go about your day looking like a chef who just walked off the job…. 😉 yuck! I agree with what someone else said above YOU should design for Stitch Fix!!
