I'm delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!
If you do not see the podcast player above, please click on this link. You can listen to a podcast anywhere and at any time. It is a recording that is available to you whenever you'd like to listen. If you'd like to download it to your iTunes library, click here. You can also pause and rewind or fast forward as you desire. I like to listen to podcasts while I'm making art. It's a little like hanging out with friends while you art.
Today's podcast features a conversation about my recent visit to NYC — a visit that included two stops at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), a day at YouTube Space…
…the play Sleep No More, and a stop to teach three classes at Papercraft Clubhouse in Connecticut on the way home! I'll be sharing lots of photos from those events in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you can enjoy our conversation about them.
You can also get a peek at those events in this week's vlog:

I totally get the idea of living in the moment. And picture taking does get in the way. I have seen that on vacation with my family (and adult kids who get consumed with picture taking). And revisiting stuff can create meaning where there was much less before. Again because we are often so distracted in a specific moment. And if I revisit a place I find myself relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere so much more. Interesting about the museum photo taking. Glad we have progressed there. Love those painting close ups. Have fun in Chicago… not far from me.

Hi Julie,
In the podcast you’re talking about being jaded when you see a lot of works of for instance Matisse at MOMA. You also talk about wanting to visit the Prado. Let me warn you: I had that jaded experience with the amount of works from Rubens and Velasques at the Prado. I only had one afternoon there but I would advise you to take more time if you ever make it there. After a couple hours I was like ‘Oh look, another Rubens. And another. And another. And…’. And not fun about the Prado: photography isn’t allowed. If you visit Madrid, don’t forget Thyssen-Bornemisza across the road, they have a pretty cool collection as well! And the Reina Sofia Museum!
Being a big fan of museums (I study culture studies and hope to get a master in museum studies some day), I enjoy your stories about museum visits! Thanks for sharing those!
Kind regards,
Thinkie
