Halloween is an excellent opportunity to put your art on display. Carved pumpkins tend to rot and get eaten by animals pretty quickly, but painted pumpkins have a way of lasting a long time. They're perfect for putting on display outside or inside your home.
Last week I roped a friend into helping me to carry a bunch of heavy pumpkins home and then we spent an evening painting pumpkins and listening to Halloween music. As a side note, I didn't think there was a lot of Halloween music out there, but we turned on Pandora and asked for Halloween music and there were a bajillion songs!
We each painted three pumpkins. Here are Steve's pumpkins:
He saw the green pumpkin and immediately thought of Frankenstein. I think the detail of adding bolts to the "neck" is awesome (and easy):

The black and white pumpkins are a study in simplicity. Multiple simple marks create something greater than each individual mark.
And, of course, I had to put eyes all over a pumpkin! Halloween screams for eyes, don't you think?

Quite a festive Halloween doorstep! BTW: That big orange pumpkin is a ginormous 30 lb. pumpkin. You can watch me try to pick it up and see some of the pumpkin decorating in process here:
