Today I wanted to share some pages from my sketchbook. This is a tiny little moleskine that I use to do my version of plein air sketching and coloring.
As you know, I like to have an art project with me when I travel. My sketchbook is particularly fun to take along because it does double, maybe even triple duty.
- It helps me to pass the time.
- I get to practice my art skills.
- I come home with a captured memory from the trip.

This next page is sort of half-finished. I abandoned it because I hated the way the white pen looked. I may go back later or I may simply turn the page and forget it!
This summer I taught my Sketchbook class at Kept Creations in Whitman and as a result, I did a bunch of demos in my sketchbook. I went back after class and finished off the pages.
I have found that my sketchbook has given me confidence. I never considered myself someone who could draw. So when I sit down and look at something I usually feel like, "Ugh. I can't draw that." And yet, after some time and patience, my finished sketch does look like something. That's definitely the case with this lantern and branch:
