Today I'm sharing some daily art journal pages from September. I am also happy to report that this week I found my way back into my art journal!! This must mean — and it does — that my studio is finally in order! Hooray! I had forgotten how good it feels to get into that art journal every single day and just brain dump. Cheaper than therapy! ;)
Grey and purple is definitely not my usual color combo, but I appreciated how those smokier colors let the brighter greens and yellows in the leaves really pop!
Plus, how good does that gold pen look on top of that grey paint?! Yummy!
Notice that I had the wrong day stamped on the page above. I make a ton of "mistakes" in my art journal and I just cover them up and keep moving. For me, my art journal is more about the every day experience than creating a beautiful finished product.
As you can see, the right edge of this page is short and shaped. Lately I've been cutting a lot of my pages down into shapes. I like having a book that's not all right angles. You can do this trick in any art journal. Give it a try and see what you think!
This spread is built on top of a calendar page. I painted around this vintage image so that it looks like it was placed right on the page. But really all I did was paint out the parts of the calendar page I didn't want!
Almost every entry I was writing at this point was whining about the stress of moving. Then a dear friend of mine passed away. So I started writing about what a selfish jerk I was for whining about my petty problems. Then I looked at this image of the lion tamer and decided that we are all struggling and should be kind to ourselves and others for you never know what someone else is going through. I thought it was pretty amazingly serendipitous that this image of a lion tamer, which I bound into a junque journal months earlier, just happened to appear on this particular day. See what I mean about art journaling being cheaper than therapy?!
Now you can see why that short page is shaped the way it is. This is my Pods on a Stick stencil in action!

I love it! I just got my Brother Scan’n Cut, and used it to make some cards. However, I need to try cutting some shapes with it to incorporate into my art journal too. Thanks for sharing such a great idea. Blessings!
