If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. There is a flickr group for sharing right here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post. Thanks!
This art journal page all started with a cold. A cold that led me to using an entire box of tissues thanks to a nose that seemed to have a never ending need to sneeze. But that's okay because I really wanted to play with the pattern on that empty box!
There was even a fantastic treat that I discovered as I deconstructed the box in the video! I am now going to treasure empty tissue boxes. Watch the video below:
Nathalie Kalbach's What's the Point stencil with Color Bloom spray ink created a loose and random feel to the page. The index card I used to clean off the stencil…well, I have fallen love with it!
The magenta color was a total O.O.P.S., an Outstanding Opportunity Presenting Suddenly. In the video, you see that a bit of overspray led me to making a big splot on purpose. I grabbed a brush and spread that glorious purple color all over the scrap of tissue box.
I ended up covering up most of the stenciled pattern, but this is mixed media and that means layers. I just added that pattern back on top with white paint and outlined it with the spray ink and a brush. Why did I choose the vintage flash card and the butterflies from JudiKins? No deep reason. That was what popped into my head so that's what I did.
I wrapped up my play time with a touch of scribble journaling with an office store pen then a hint of white around the butterflies from a Stabilo pencil. The play wont' be ending here for me…I have more pieces of that box including that bonus treasure I found under the flap!
Here is this week's linky list:

Thank you Carolyn. I’ve thought of using the tissue boxes, they do have some cool patterns. I use them and cereal boxes to die cut with and then paint them. I’m also going to try embossing them to use on the gelli plate. Another great lesson!

Very nice page. I love to use up found objects and parts of boxes, anything with a pattern or bright color combination. Fantastic with the butterflies.

Now I know I’m not the only one who really likes the kleenex box designs! I’ve used them on journal pages and for ATCs! Great guest post. Hope Julie that your move is going well, and maybe you will get a chance to stop by and see my journal pages ’cause they are directly inspired by your blog! ♥
