Hey!  I'm going to be on HSN (Home Shopping Network) tomorrow (Tuesday, March 24, 2015) demoing the ScanNCut.  You can watch either on your TV or online!  I will be on between 2am and 3am and then again between 6pm and 7pm EST.  I hope you'll tune in!

When I posted my Project Life process video two weeks ago, I got a bunch of requests for information on how I do the digital portion of my Project Life.  So, I put together a video of the process for you!

To be clear: this video isn't instructive.  If you don't know how to use Photoshop, you aren't going to learn how from this video.  Rather, it's informative.  You get a peek into the process.  If you already use Photoshop, perhaps it will give you some ideas.  If you don't perhaps it will excite you to learn how!  I highly recommend Patty Debowski's website for learning Photoshop for memory-related crafts.

In the video I mention Rad Lab.  I love it!  It makes editing videos so super duper easy and quick.  I use it virtually every time I edit photos.

In the video, I also mention that I sketch out a plan before I edit my photos.  Basically, I sketch out the shape of the pockets in the page protectors, then as I'm going through my photos deciding which ones to use, I jot down where they will go.  This way I can size and orient them appropriately.

And here's a peek at the final embellished pages!

Hard to tell what's digital and what's real, right?!  I think that's so cool!  And just because I know someone will ask, the digital portion takes me 1-2 hours and the decorative after part probably takes another hour.  It can be much faster if I decide to forgo all the decorative bits and bobs.

I hope you found this helpful and informative!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. On my last Project Life post, someone asked me what the difference was for me between Project Life and Art Journal Every Day.  That's a question I answered in this post a while back.  In essentials: for me, Project Life is photo and memory based.  Telling little stories that I expect someone (me or my theoretical future children) to read.  Art Journal Every Day is random stream of consciousness that I don't expect anyone to ever read.  In fact, I really hope they don't!  ;)

P.P.S. The winner of the Scribbled Rose Bits is…

Congratulations Ozge!  E-mail me with your mailing address and I'll get your prize out to you!

  • So much fun, and you make it look so easy!!! Once you have figured out the photo editing, do you have a preferred printer or ink or paper? I am not confident that my home printer produces fade resistant photos, and that would be the pitts after doing all that work and then to have it disappear.

  • Hi Julie, so great to watch your process video. Just installed a trial version of Radlab…bit spendy especially as Aussie Dollar is down right now… but so easy to use right in photoshop rather than heading over to lightroom. I use Pictapgo app by the same people..on my phone which I love and is great for when you are on the move and want a quick edit for just a few pics..and can highly recommend.
My question.. what action were you using to make your photos ‘fit’ the the 6 x 4 canvas, or did you create yourself?
