'Tis the season for paper snowflakes!  I thought I'd share my favorite way to make them:

I cut a few from deli paper (the really thin paper makes them easier to cut).

Because of the way the paper is folded, it makes it super easy to get really interesting intricate designs with very simple shapes!

Happy cutting!  And thanks for stopping by!

  • Great idea…how easy if you just know the “secret” about how to fold the paper. Unfortunately it’s impossible to find deli paper. Neither here or E bay….sigh…. Suppose I’ll be able to substitute that..
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks for all what you share. It’s great inspiration.

  • I have been cutting my own snowflakes for years. I usually use ordinary copy paper/printer paper, but deli paper would be easier to fold and cut. I like your idea of drawing the design first….I always just free hand it and never know what will come out…always a beautiful surprise.
This year I deceided to make my own wrapping paper for gifts. I cut three sizes of snowflakes for stencils and sprayed inks thru them on the plain white artist paper. Simple cloth ribbon or yarn for tying and my gifts look great.
Thanks so much for your daily blogs!!! Vee

  • this is a merry Christmas thank you. I started reading this blog after I saw you on scrapbook memories. I read you everyday. mostly I scrapbook and like your layouts which I don’t copy but help free my mind. your techniques are a must read for me and I even try some and file the rest till I need them. I get compliments on my layouts because of your opening my mind to using my own creativity. I don’t like stickers even letters so I make my own embellishments but when I first started I thought you had to use all the scrapbook stuff. boy, did you open my eyes. I buy more art supplies and am happier scrapbooking and I never have to worry about sticker sneezes. i like your stencils and use them for backgrounds. for someone who doesn’t like any kind of print, even though you don’t know me, you’ve brought me a long way and all the printed paper i bought and would never use i just paint over. thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself. it ticks me off to need you because I’ve always thought of myself as creative but there’s just something about you and your style that help me tremendously. also the other artists you’ve introduced me to. you’re still my first. ruth
