My sweet friend Kimberly recently had a birthday.  I painted up a little bag for her, which I filled with some goodies.  This is how it started:

Plainbag-wm
Just a cheap plastic bag from the drugstore.

This is what an hour with a paintbrush did:

Strapout-wm
Strapout-wm
Strapout-wm
Strapout-wm
Strapout-wm
Strapout-wm
Every surface is an opportunity to add color and pattern and fun!  She loved the gift and I loved making it.  Win-win, right?!

Thanks for stopping by!

    So many questions!
What kind of paint pens did you use and what did you seal it with????
You are always an inspiration to me!

  • How cool! Is it just acrylics? I’m surprised they adhere to plastic. Tell us more, please.

  • Beyond awesome! I, like everyone else, want to know how you did this…what makes the paint stick to the plastic and not chip or flake off?

  • Fabulous. I too look forward to hearing what paints and how you sealed the bag. I have often wanted to paint old heels that have gotten badly scuffed, into an art piece to wear on my feet. So far I have not found the right sealer to keep from peeling. Your creativity is limitless. What a lucky friend.

  • The best gift is a gift from the heart. You are right when you say it is a win-win situation. I love making beautiful things but I can only keep so many. I get as much pleasure in making as in giving the gift.
It is a beautiful gift and has inspired me to try my hand at making so for gift giving.

Great idea that shows us that if we cannot make or create the whole bag, we can still make it soooo much better than it was.
I love your ideas/site and look forward to it everyday.
If you could give us tips about the products used. I tried the MS new paints and they did not seem to adhere as much as advertised–but they have a long cure time, so perhaps I didn’t wait long enough. But I do know you use what you have about and do not frivolously purchase lots of art items.
