I thought I'd share a peek at the progress of the large embroidery piece I've been working on. Yesterday I ended up stitching on some extra pieces of muslin because I was getting too close to the edge and it was hard to hoop the work.
I'm a little annoyed at myself for miscalculating how large this piece was going to get, but that's life. The seams aren't ideal, but I'm going to live through it. ;)
I've pretty much been working on the afro area for the past few weeks.
As you can see, I pencil in the design as I work.
And I thought you might enjoy a peek at the back.
Not quite as clean as it could be, but super cool looking nonetheless. I put knots in my embroidery, which is a no-no, but I still do it anyway! Lots of stray threads in places that I messed up, but hey, that's part of the journey, right?

Un-flipping-believable! This is one exquisite masterpiece. I wouldn’t worry about the added fabric…could be replaced with some gorgeous fabric, or stenciled fabric or embroidered pieces 😉

Absolutely beautiful. I have done some basic embroidery, which I really enjoy, but nothing like this! I put knots in mine too, especially when it is an item that will be washed (towels, pillowcases, clothing). I think that is perfectly ok!!
