One of the things about living in an apartment building in New York City is that there are lots of holiday tips to hand out.  There are twelve people who work in my building.  Every year I try to make cards or something pretty to hand out cash in.  This year I used my Gelli Plate to decorate coin envelopes:

For the labels, I used some Hambly rub-ons on top of white-on-white patterned paper.  Then I cut out each label and affixed them to the envelope.  After that it was simply a matter of typing out the names.  I love my typewriter.  One of my best art purchases ever!

Although I made these for holiday tips, you could use the same idea for any paper gift (cash, check, gift certificate, gift card, coupon, etc.)!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Love this idea. The envelopes look festive instead of bland. Thanks for the suggestion. I do not have a gelli plate yet, but hope to get one soon. I know I will find a million (slight exaggeration) uses for it.

  • This is just the best idea! I have even printed some with my Gelli plate. But did I think of using them like this? Of course not. You are a constant source of “now why didn’t I think of that?” Thanks again for another great idea Julie!

  • Love them!! THanks for sharing. I am so inspired by your boundless creativity and living artfully everyday. I am so sad that when we moved we gave away our old typewriter that we had been carrying around with us for more than 20 yrs. It was so hard for me to let go. I could not tell my husband a good reason until now that it is gone. Oh well…… best to practice my calligraphy skills.
