Back in 2017, I made this monoprint:

62-wm
And there was enough paint on the plate to pull a ghost:

62-ghost-wm
I stumbled upon that ghost last week and decided that it needed a little makeover.

I feel conflicted.  On the one hand, the further along I get in my art-making, the more interested I am in making things that are quirky or odd — images that force you to take a second look.  On the other hand, I also find myself interested in creating simpler and more graphic images.  I love some of the detail photos of this re-imagined piece, but I'm thinking that overall it's a bit too busy — there's no where for the eye to rest.  Originally, I had only re-done half the image and that might have where I should have stopped?  I don't know.  I'm clearly going to have to keep experimenting and playing around!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I'm recording a new podcast episode today.  Let me know if there's anyone in particular you'd like me to interview!  Or a topic that you'd like to see covered!

  • Look at how fabulous your next to last photo (the one that crops in on the “Eye of the Tiger” half of the face) is– so impactful and intriguing.

  • I love everything about this. I have a lot in common with the balancing details with simplicity. What I do is let myself go crazy and then cover most of it with a white or light colored opaque glaze. Like you do with your black on journal pages. You can keep covering it up or add something simple. Either way I think you have a beautiful piece
