Today I've got some daily pages to share with you. My art journal is a place to experiment and play, but it's also a place to relax and do what's comfortable. In the pages I'm sharing this week I think you'll see that combination of comfortable old techniques mixed with some new ideas.
Every few pages I can't help but reach for the black paint!
This was a piece of watercolor paper taken from a spiral-bound notebook. I love having that unusual edge in my Junque Journal!
I love experimenting with lettering. There isn't a right and wrong. As long as it's readable — and even that's up for debate. Sometimes unreadable lettering is the coolest!
I mixed gouache and acrylic paint. Can you tell which is which? I can't even remember anymore! The flower is a thermofax screen I designed for Cloth Paper Scissors (buy it here).
Can you see my foil tape samples peeking out at you?
Layers of paint and tape melding together until you can't tell what's in front and what's behind. I love that!
Remember when you traced your hands in kindergarten? Same idea here in my art journal!
This was a leftover flower bit from a ScanNCut class I taught. It found a home in my art journal!
The triangle stamp is from my "Really Useful Stamps Circle Set."
Repeated triangle motif — the ones heading down were hand drawn. I like the rhythm of repeated motifs. You'll often see me doing the same shape over and over in different sizes.
I traced the Scribbled Rose Balzer Bit here. Tracing is another great way of using your stencils!
Some simple lettering with an impassioned plea.
This page features an old photo (which I drew on top of) of my Aunt, Grandmother, and Mother.
I always think a shadow makes lettering pop off the page!
Lots of leftover bits glued in. Plus the ovals! The ovals are from my Patterns stencil. It's quickly becoming one of my most used stencils!
Unmounted rubber stamps are great for printing across the crack in a journal page. You can really push and mush them into the crack to get a good impression. (The stamps are from my Days of the Week and Numbers sets.)

I really love these pages Julie- I journal in a composition book as I also take notes for project life so I felt adding a daily art journal would be too much but you are swaying me. Maybe when my current book is done…
