I am currently going through some personal family health issues. I am going to do my best to keep delivering daily inspiration through my blog during this period. However, there may be some gaps and you may see some content from the archives. For Thanksgiving, I made some super fun place cards from leaves!
Before painting the leaves, I washed and dried and pressed them. Then I simply used regular acrylic paint to have some fun! I made two kinds of leaves: place cards with white paint and colored leaves for decoration.
I love all of the worm holes and natural wear and tear of the leaves. I painted right over and around all of it!
Before starting the colored leaves, I base coated them with white paint because I wanted the colors to pop! I thought the brown base of the leaves might not allow the colors to pop.
The leaves were a really perfect addition to our Thanksgiving table!
After the meal, when we dug into dessert, the leaves were scattered around the table and looked great!

I’d like to keep them from tearing and becoming “leaf dust”, so I’m experimenting with coating them with Matte Medium (both sides). We’ll see if this works.
