Two Acrylic Painting Accessories I Love

I have a lot of paint in metal tubes.  The metal tubes can be a pain to work with sometimes.  They get stiff and can be difficult to open.  Recently I've discovered two tools that have made it so much easier:

PAINT KEY

This is a paint key:

1-PaintKey-wm
The paint tube inserts into the gap in the key.

2-InsertTube-wm
You then use the key to help roll the tube up and get all of the paint out!

3-roll-wm

It's simple and works really well.  And when you've completely used up a tube of paint, you can re-use the paint key!  (If you don't want to reuse them, that's okay, they're pretty inexpensive.)

GOLDEN GRIPR

This thing is genius.

5-Gripr-wm
No more pliers.  (No more teeth!)  I can open tubes so easily now.  I love it!  It has differently shaped openings…

6-Grips-wm
…for differently shaped caps.

7-caps-wm
You match the cap to the correct opening in the Gripr

8-matchcap-wm
…and then screw it off like it's not glued shut with dried paint!

9-unscrew-wm

Isn't that cool?!

So, there you have it!  Two simple plastic tools that have made my life so much better!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • The flowers netted to the paintings make the paintings seem alive. Did they choose the painting to model? Awesome. Thanks for sharing

  • I think the first one is actually used for rolling up toothpaste tubes. Where can I get the second tool?

  • I use my kitchen jar opener for my paint tubes—it’s a v shaped thing with a handle and teeth on the inside of the V— works on the same principle as the Golden tool. I’ve got to get some of those paint keys!
