Hello, friends! Here is a little bit about life around here right now:

What are you working on?

I am leaning into my sketchbook practice at the moment.

It's nothing profound, but it feels good to be doing some directed explorations.

What are you loving?

I look forward to a new episode of Ted Lasso every Friday.  The writing is great.  The characters are complicated and interesting.  The show is full of pathos.

If you haven't watched it yet, give it a go.  It lives up to all the hype.

How is the baby?

He's not much of a baby anymore.  He's 22-months-old — almost a two-year-old!  I think I should start calling him a little boy.

He's still the sweetest little guy and so loving.  The transition to 3-days-a-week of daycare hasn't been easy for us, but we are working on it and it's getting better.  COVID makes things a bit more difficult than usual as parents aren't allowed into the school at all. We've found the books Llama Llama Misses Mama and Rosie Goes to Pre-School to be very helpful. If you have any other book suggestions, let me know!

Current art crush?

Okay, so this isn't really a single person.  It's an aesthetic.  I follow a shop in Australia called, Jumbled — their instagram handle is "jumbledonline."  I love almost everything that they sell in their shop.  And while I'm probably not heading to Australia any time soon, I love being inspired by the artwork and design pieces that they sell.  Here's a small sampling:

They sell the work of so many talented artists and there's also such a wonderful sense of joy and fun in all of their posts.  I love seeing what they're sharing every day.  Their posts make me happy.

So, there you have it!  That's the scoop on life around here at the moment. I hope that you are looking forward to Halloween as much as I am!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • My “baby” is 30 now! Yes, time goes sooo quickly. When he was in daycare/preschool it always helped him to wave goodbye to me from the window inside. I don’t know why it worked, but it did. May have helped mama, too. 😉

  • You just love “Jumbled” because their slogan is More is More, which we all know is your personal motto, too. 😀

  • Hi Julie,
The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn is a great book about going to school. Check out YouTube for a read aloud version of it. I tried to post the link but my message disappeared! I love the read aloud books!
Also, if you aren’t familiar with Daniel Tiger (PBS) the show has simple songs that go along with the episodes like “grownups come back.” They have episodes about sharing, taking turns, jeolousy, etc It is a calm show. The characters are from the original Mr Rogers show.
    I sure hope this helps!
