I don't know about you, but I am LAZY.  And the easiest way to quickly stencil a large area is with a baby wipe.

As you can see the results are fantastic!  Here are some detail photos:

In this tutorial video I share two different examples of media you can use with this technique: water soluble crayons and acrylic paint.

In the video I'm using a stencil I designed for The Crafter's Workshop called "Tulip Hexagons."

It's designed to seamlessly repeat.  I show you how in the video above. It's so easy!

I hope you'll give this technique a try.  It's one of my favorites.  What's your favorite stenciling technique?  I'd love to know!

P.S. If you're in this month's gelatin printing class, No Brayer, No Problem

…don't forget about the LIVE bookbinding event with Kiala Givehand!  It's tonight at 5pm EST and this is the book she's going to show you how to make:

  • Like this, but you missed the next step.
You can use the colored wipe to do another stenciling. The color will be thing, but you get a nice watercolor like effect.
Thanks for sharing your great ideas.

  • I don’t own water soluble crayons – so I appreciate you sharing the alternative acrylic paint method! I even have a specific stencil in mind that I want to try this technique with. Thank you, as always, Julie!
