The Adventures in Arting Podcast: Bust the COVID Blahs

Square-500
It has been several months since we've released a new podcast.  There's a good reason and I'll bet that you can relate: the COVID blahs.  But all hope is not lost, Mom and I have four solutions for you — ways to bust those blahs and get back to being creative.  Give it a listen:

If you do not see the podcast player above, please click on this link.  On the off chance that you've never listened to a podcast or don't get why anybody would want to, here are some facts: (1) Podcasts are convenient. It's a recording that is available to you whenever and wherever you'd like to listen. You can pause, stop, start, fast forward, and rewind. Stream it through Apple Music or Spotify. (2) Podcasts are great for listening to while making art. They provide intellectual stimulation and create a bit of company (like hanging out with friends) without the visual distraction of the TV. (3) Podcasts can inspire and educate you. I often find myself jotting down notes when I listen to a podcast. There's so much I want to remember.

Some things we discuss on the podcast:

The Gates. This is a photo I took of The Gates in 2005. I didn't start blogging until 2006, so sadly there's no blog post about it!

Yard Art – this is the blog post I wrote about it.  Don't forget to grab your postcards!

  • I really enjoyed this podcast Julie, as it inspired several thoughts! Re wondering how you are unique … I find you have loads of interesting things to say!!!! I’ve often thought the grass is greener elsewhere but it really helped me a few years ago to realize how green my grass probably looks to other people. I loved the thoughts about yard art and how it makes you look at the yard, not just the art. Another book you may enjoy, although it’s out of print, is “Watchings” by W.R. Calvert. It’s full of short stories about hidden animal life that he could have got only because he spent hours sitting outside and watching. Re living in fear, the thought that helps me is that I’m not the manager of the universe! Bless you!

  • Finally got some time to listen to your podcast. I have listened to several other art-related ones, and without a doubt, yours is my favorite.
