Back in 2017, I made this monoprint:
And there was enough paint on the plate to pull a ghost:
I stumbled upon that ghost last week and decided that it needed a little makeover.
I feel conflicted. On the one hand, the further along I get in my art-making, the more interested I am in making things that are quirky or odd — images that force you to take a second look. On the other hand, I also find myself interested in creating simpler and more graphic images. I love some of the detail photos of this re-imagined piece, but I'm thinking that overall it's a bit too busy — there's no where for the eye to rest. Originally, I had only re-done half the image and that might have where I should have stopped? I don't know. I'm clearly going to have to keep experimenting and playing around!
Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I'm recording a new podcast episode today. Let me know if there's anyone in particular you'd like me to interview! Or a topic that you'd like to see covered!
Look at how fabulous your next to last photo (the one that crops in on the “Eye of the Tiger” half of the face) is– so impactful and intriguing.

I love everything about this. I have a lot in common with the balancing details with simplicity. What I do is let myself go crazy and then cover most of it with a white or light colored opaque glaze. Like you do with your black on journal pages. You can keep covering it up or add something simple. Either way I think you have a beautiful piece
