Normally when I travel I bring some kind of art project: sewing, embroidery, sketchbook, art journal, etc.  I didn't bring any art supplies with me to Hawaii.  An 11.5 hour flight there, 7 days in the sun, and 9.5 hours back, but with a baby, I had no expectation of having any time to myself to make art.  For the most part I was right.  However, on the way home there was a brief window when the baby was sleeping and Steve was holding him. I grabbed my iPad and got busy with this quick little doodle:

I don't find digital drawing quite as satisfying as taking pen to paper, but it's great to have a flat lightweight art studio in my carry on bag.

Do you create art on your iPad?  Do you like it as much as playing with "real" art supplies?

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Can you doodle on procreate and send it or transfer it to your scan and cut? That would be an opportunity for some stencil designing….

  • I haven’t ventured into drawing on my iPad. There is something about holding the pencil, pen, crayon, etc. in my hand that just feels right.

  • Love it! What program do you have on your iPad for this? I’ve never done anything like this.

  • Love your doodles. I use Procreate almost exclusively these days. I love the no prep/cleanup of it. Also if I create a dud I haven’t wasted anything but time. And even that is redeemed if I learned anything in the process. My favorite technique is to combine my gel prints with the digital. Check out my instagram page @queenodella
