I know I share a lot of museum posts, but I want to remind you that you don't have to be inside a museum to see art! There's a ton of public art out in the world. Here are few highlights I've peeped recently:
In a restaurant in Cleveland:
At the cash register at a diner (these are made from felt):
How about parked on the street?
I wish I were brave enough to do that to my car!
Don't forget about mini-sculptures often found outdoors and seen as "decorative":
This is street art in San Francisco:
This is a light pole from Salem, MA:
This is an outdoor sculpture that lights up at night:
Sculptures outside an office building:
And inside a subway station in New York City:
Keep your eyes open for it and I think you'll be surprised by how much "art in the wild" you can find!
And speaking of wild, check this out:

We just have to keep our eys open and observant. Thanks for the reminder.

Maybe some day you can visit Crystal Bridges Museum in NW Arkansas. It’s a fabulous little secret. Right now, there is a Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit, but the permanent collection is also top notch. It has a beautiful outdoor installation area, as well, and you can rent bikes and ride around the paved hill trails. I was able to meet Dale Chihuly when he had an indoor and outdoor exhibit there last year. Bucket list stuff, for sure. Y’all come on down and see us. lol

My town, Floyd, VA, is a thriving arts community! There is an arts center which features exhibits of local artists, quilters, even the work of students, both those in public school and those getting an alternative education in private or home schools. Sprinkled around the county are various sculptures to place artworks in other locations. We are part of Virginia’s Crooked Road which celebrates the musical heritage of our state with live music happening almost all the time, on performance stages and out on the sidewalks! Great place to visit so come on down!!

I’ve had to do a lot of flying over the past year and have seen beautiful pieces inside the airport terminals. LAX in particular had these really gorgeous murals.

We have lots of great public art in the Puget Sound area. Some of it, like the horses at Ronald Bog Park in Shoreline and “Waiting for the Interurban” in Fremont get decorated by other artists from time to time. Fun to see!

I’ve been to the basket-shaped building! It was the headquarters for Longaberger Baskets. Back in the 1990s, a friend and I were crazy for their baskets and even took a bus trip to Ohio to visit the factory. It was fun but eventually the craze ended for us and for a lot of other people, too, I guess, because I hadn’t heard much about the company in recent years and a quick search of the internet just now indicates they closed a couple of months ago. I still have all the baskets I bought and use quite a few of them.

I was just in the Texas Capitol building yesterday, and just LOVE the brass doorknobs and brass hinges on their oversize doors…. they are so beautiful that the Capitol Gift Shop sells replicas!

When I recently got stuck in Atlanta I went exploring and found the most amazing gallery of sculptures in the airport. I now regret not taking any pictures but you have encouraged me to do so next time. Cat
