I was in Cleveland recently and so, of course, I hit up the Cleveland Museum of Art.  Other than their special exhibits, the museum is FREE!  FREE!  FREE!  Isn't that awesome?!  Take a peek at what I saw in about an hour and a bit:

The dots in the foyer are in honor of Yayoi Kusama.  One of the special exhibits is her work.

I thought the museum was great.  The signage was good.  It's an encyclopedic museum so there's a wide range of art for all tastes.  It was a really great visit!  Hope you enjoyed it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Really enjoyed this, Julie. Thank you! “Accent Grave” has a sense of violence, doesn’t it? (I see a person falling down with perhaps a dagger flying at their back.) Thought-provoking work, while also surprisingly pleasurable to look at. The Gabriele Münter piece is a joy. Very Matisse-esque. Love seeing what appeals to your eye in light of your art, too.

  • Love the Cleveland Museum of Art, thanks for sharing photos of your visit. I was there in late June (live in NE Ohio) and took some of the same pictures.Like the previous commenters, I love Gerhard Richter’s Abstract Painting (you can’t help but be drawn closer to see all the paint layers and yummy color) and the Franz Kline (it stops me every time). I have learned so much from your museum posts and commentary about stopping to really look and think about the piece of art, thank you.

  • What a fascinating person and artist Yayoi Kusama is. Also, as other commenters have noted; I just love Gerhard Richter’s Abstract Painting – It looks like many layers of paint sanded down – just intriguing. I do feel ‘pulled in’ by Alice Neel’s portraitures as well. Thanks so much for taking us along on another museum tour! 🙂
