I love love love — did I say LOVE?! — the way this page turned out.
It's a page with a surprise: it opens up!

This page is a combination of acrylic paint, marker, and collage.
You can see the curvy crack in the face, right?
It opens up along that curvy crack to reveal…
…this super colorful text. Can you tell what the text is made of?
It looks like regular collage with maybe deli paper?
WRONG!
It's the paint peeled off my palette!
Isn't that the coolest?!
Once the paint on your palette hardens, you can easily peel it off the palette. I find that the underside (the side that was against the palette) is more fun and colorful than the top side! Also, it's a bit harder to peel paint off of palette paper than an actual palette. These pieces came off my Tri-Art Non-Stick Palette. It's the palette that I use at home.
I white washed the background before I created the letters. I say wash because I wanted to let some of the background to still show through the paint.
