Today I'm excited to share four really important ScanNCut videos with you.  These are different from my normal videos because these are "overview videos."  In essentials, they're videos that give you the big picture concept of some important ScanNCut tenets.

Have you ever heard the saying: You can't see the forest for the trees?

Sometimes we get so caught up in the minutiae of how to do small tasks that we lose track of the overarching concept.  I believe that if you understand the big picture ways in which the ScanNCut works and thinks, then you can figure out all of those small tasks!

So, here we go!  First up: What is a ScanNCut and what does it do?

The ScanNCut is an electronic cutter. The word cutter is in the description. Therefore, it makes sense that most of the questions I get are about cutting. With that in mind, here are some basic cutting tips:

The other word in the ScanNCut name is: Scan.  The reason that people love ScanNCut more than the competition is the built-in-scanner.  ScanNCut is the only electronic cutter with a built-in scanner.  So here are some scanning tips:

Finally, let's talk about ScanNCut Canvas.  While ScanNCut is a stand alone machine that requires no internet, no computer, no cartridges, it can be used with a tablet or computer.  ScanNCut Canvas is the key.

I hope those videos provided some big picture clarity about the ScanNCut.  I get a ton of e-mails with very specific questions about specific projects people are working on.  My personal experience with the ScanNCut has been that I can figure out the specifics of any project because I understand the overall concepts.  And you can too!

Thanks for stopping by!

I am a paid spokesperson for the Brother ScanNCut. It is a machine that I love and use. All projects and opinions are my own.

  • Hey Julie –Any chance you could bring this to the QC meeting on Monday night? I would love to see how to use it especially with vinyl like we did in Betty’s class! I could definitely be there before the meeting! — Donna Jean (your seatmate in class)

  • I jumped on the ScanNCut bandwagon the first time it aired on HSN. So my question is, does Brother have a trade-in program for us loyal customers who supported them in the beginning to purchase a ScanNCut 2? I can’t just throw it away and purchase a new one. It seems that in this wonderful world of paper crafting, if you’stupid enough to buy the first-time offered machine, you lose! Any ideas?
