Hello out there!  Here's a little bit about life right now:

This is me right now:

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Around Here: April 2017
My current art obsession is: My 100 Day Project.  I make faces and faces and faces and still have ideas for more faces to create!

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Around Here: April 2017
My current life obsession is: This hand made kimono by Patricia and Molly Palson (a Mother/Daughter duo):

Other people may think it's cray cray, but I love and adore every inch of its colorful happy magic!

I'm loving: Anything stitched or embroidered is totally my jam these days.  These were absurdly expensive shirts I saw in a store, but so beautiful!

I'm hating: The weather.

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Around Here: April 2017
It's amazing how much the weather can effect your mood.  The rain is just not agreeing with me.

My home is: Perfect for hosting a Passover seder!

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Around Here: April 2017
My life is: All about PT.  I go to physical therapy twice a week (here I am icing my shoulder) for a rotator cuff injury.

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Around Here: April 2017
I've graduated from the red band to the green band and now working on blue.  Hoping to make it to grey in a few weeks and then maybe no more bands and no more paint!

My favorite art project I made this month but haven't shown on the blog yet: This is from my online stamp carving class about designing repeating patterns.

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I hear’ya about PT. I’ve gone to red and waiting for blue at my place. Heel injury. Sorry to hear of your shoulder injury.
The rain is a downer for sure. We need it due to the continued drought but it puts a big damper on my mood as well.

  • Good Morning Julie,
You are such a busy girl. I love your Kimono and I love the embroidery shirts. Your know there are home sewing machines from Brother and Singer that are great for home embroidery.
What is nice about that is you could take a store bought article and embroider it to your own design.
April showers brings may flowers so don’t let the rain get you down.
I saw you vlog on youtube it was late so I did not comment or thumbs up it. I will today I promise.
I hope your rotator cuff mends real soon. It must be painful. You are a trooper to keep going as you do with everything you have going on.
Loved this blog stamps look awesome. The faces fabulous. I watched that in the vlog and thought how really talented you are.
    Happy Thursday

  • How fun that you and your Mom did the chocolate taste test by cutting tasting sized pieces out of each one! It would drive me over the edge if I opened a box and found it that way! I like being surprised by all the different flavor combinations, but mostly I just like chocolate. Period!
Your 100 days project is really coming along. You are so creative with all the media and different papers, etc. Add that to teaching, and prepping for class, and you really are busy. Take care, hope your shoulder gets better soon.

  • When I watch your videos I wonder how someone can pack in all that in a day. Love the faces, so interesting to see what happens with the different backgrounds.
I’m taking your Patterns class. Working on the two sided one. I’ve been carving for a long time and this is a great approach for new ideas.
Maybe I’ll post some of the work one of these days.
Thanks for all the inspiration and happiness that shows up in your videos.

  • I LOVE the kimono. Just my style…wearable art. It is absolutely beautiful , you must be over the top! As you know, it’s very important that you follow the pt exercises, etc, and I’m glad you do. A rotator cuff could make painting large canvases a problem…so…keep up the good pt work! Sending healing love…..
