This year for Valentine's Day I'm staying home.  On the one hand, I like going out and getting dressed up and all that jazz.  On the other hand, I'm old and cantankerous and an evening at home sounds lovely.  But, just because it's at home and I'm in my pajama pants doesn't mean that it can't still be a special event.

Check out my fancy Valentine's Day Table for Two:

Over the next few days I'm going to show you how to make the various elements in this photo.  Today's we're starting with the felt roses.

They're pretty fabulous!  (That's a marimekko plate from the Target collection last summer.)  They look good and they're easy to make, so it's win win.  I made them with my ScanNCut, but you could do them by hand.  In fact, I used the hand cutting template from this website.

Watch the video for the how to:

And here's a closer look at some of those flowers:

  • Oh my gosh, these little roses are very nice. You did a great job on them. I too find felt leaves a mess on the high tack fabric sheet. You cleaned it off in no time and the mat look ready to go again.
I just now retired my low tack mat of two years. It was one of my original mats that I got with my scanncut. Lost of proto type test cutting done on that baby for my projects. I too am doing a felt cut. I finally decided on what fabric to use for my bear and it will be brown felt for the body. I think the sheets are something like 10×10. My bear is 8.50×8.50 inches.
I made another felt project and with that I could not get my high tack fabric sheet cleaned like you did. I just ended up losing it. The felt was the worse for leaving a mess behind. I had cut several pieces of cotton and found that better to clean off then the felt.
Love your rose project that is something I might try out myself after my bear.
    Have a great day
