If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here. All of the previous posts can be found archived here. Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day! No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek. Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.
Given that we're in the midst of #CarveDecember, today I thought I'd offer you some stamping-in-your-journal inspiration taking a peek at some of my favorite examples of stamping from my own art journal. These pages span 2012-2016. I hope you find some inspiration for stamping in your own journal!
I am a stamp junkie. I have tons of stamps. I buy tons of stamps. I make tons of stamps.
The fact is, I don't discriminate when it comes to stamps and stamping.
I like hand carved stamps:
I like using embossing powder:
I just really like stamping of all kinds!
And there are so many ways to use stamps in your art journal. Here are just a few ideas:
- to date your pages
- to create patterns
- to fill space
- to create a focal image
- to add color
- as part of collage material
- to add visual texture
- to cover up something you don't like
- to divide a page
- to add text and titles
- and so much more!
How do you use stamps in your art journal?
Thanks for stopping by!

As a kid I was fascinated by the people in post offices who stamped everything. Dad had a load of “business” stamps in his desk – I dont think they were used much as the ink pad was permanently dry!!
So I have stamps. Never sure what to do with them as I dont like the twee stamp a picture and colour them in stuff that some cardmakers do. So mostly they tend to go as a lower layer with maybe just a little showing through at the end. I can never remember which ink pads are permanent and which smudge but a smudge adds to the layers.
I love alphabet and numeral stamps too (they go as a top layer) Dad was a letterpress printer so maybe that is in my genes!!

Inspiration to use the stamps I’ve been carving. Thanks. The stamps look great when they are distinct individual images and also great as layered backgrounds.

Hi, I am always in love with your carved stamps. They are beautiful in your art. I still can’t figure out how you find the time. Love the peaks in your journal!

Love background stamps! Also found intricate patterned and doily designs years ago which I often brush with multi colors, double stamp, cut out, and pop off the page. My love of stamps started with card making. Enjoy the Art Foamies, too!
