I am so thrilled and excited by the response to Make It Artsy – my new TV show on PBS. However, I am aware that many of you are frustrated by not being able to find it on your local PBS station. So, here's the scoop:
- PBS is programmed locally. That means each Station Manager decides which programs to schedule.
- It usually takes a few months for local stations to catch up after a new show's feed goes live. (Make It Artsy's feed went live for the first time on Friday.)
- You can request programs, like Make It Artsy, by contacting your local PBS station. This may speed up the process. :)
- PBS also has a special DIY network called Create. It is usually a dedicated channel on your TV. The great news is that Create **is** going to be showing Make It Artsy, but it's going to take a few months to get it into the rotation. The good news is that you can still catch Scrapbook Soup on Create.
- You can watch one full episode for FREE every week online on the Make It Artsy website. In fact, you can watch the very first episode online right now! (I believe a new episode debuts every Friday. But, don't quote me on that. It may be a different day of the week.)
- You can also purchase a set of 4 DVDs that cover the entire season, so you don't have to wait for it to hit the internet or your TV. You can watch the segments over and over and over again!
- Each episode of Make It Artsy features 3-4 art projects, almost always mixed media in nature. There are 13 episodes in a season, so that's a lot of inspiration!
- Guests this season include:
Glitter Girl, Kathy Cano-Murillo aka Crafty Chica sharing time & money saving craft ideas filled with outrageous color & pattern.
Paint Diva, Dina Wakley sharing myriad paint, drawing, and stamping techniques in her signature style.
Calligraphy Master, Janet Takahashi sharing both lettering and watercoloring techniques and ideas.
Creative Force, Jenn Mason sharing a cornucopia of ideas from shrink plastic earrings to monoprinting to how to find inspiration in vacation photos.
Tech & Tool Guy, Joe Rotella sharing 3-D projects that will have you breaking out the safety glasses and power tools!
Polymer Clay Goddess, Laurie Mika sharing just how easy it is to create with polymer clay.
Metal Magician, Mary Hettmansperger sharing easy techniques for metal hinges and patinating.
Water Media Whiz, Mou Saha sharing her tricks for transforming books, coloring book pages, and more!
Shabby Chic Stitcher, Rebekah Meier sharing how she gets her signature soft layered look in her mixed media art.
Macabre Mixed Media Maker of Things Roxanne Coble sharing ideas for mixing collage and paint to create awesome paper art.
Found Object Hero, Seth Apter sharing distressed die cutting, embossing all the things, and the fine art of wrapping.
I think you can see that it's a great line up filled with super talented folks.
I'm going to leave you with two clips from the show. I hope you enjoy them!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Julie, I was checking out the lifebook link and realised your link takes us to LifeBook2016 page – whereas it should have been LifeBook2017 link. Some people might not realise and buy the 2016 course!!

Yes, I also noticed that the link takes us to Life Book 2016 instead of 2017. I tried it both from my email and FB, not knowing if that would make a difference.
Dedicated time to watch Make It Artsy this weekend, it is a quality, one-of-a-kind show! Cannot wait for the next episode, may have to purchase those DVDs!

hi, so I’ve been watching you on the scrapbook soup website for years because our PBS stations don’t show you very often. The banner on the site now says Make it Artsy, but it is still showing scrapbook soup episode 501. I’m hopeful we will get the episodes soon!
PS I was going to sign up for your San Jose class, but the first day is Yom Kipper. Maybe next time. Ann
