Riv’s Jane Austen Paper Flower Bouquet

My friend Riv is getting married in October. Her whole wedding has a literary theme, with a special emphasis on Jane Austen.

This past weekend I hosted a bachelorette weekend for her.  We spent much of the weekend crafting a fabulous paper flower bouquet for her.  The flowers were made from pages of Jane Austen's novels.  Take a peek at the process (and try to ignore the fact that I'm in my pajamas):

We mixed the paper flowers with faux greenery from the craft store and voila:

Riv couldn't be happier with her huge, fabulous, personalized, hand crafted wedding bouquet!  It took four of us two long nights to create this bouquet, but I think it was absolutely worth the effort!  It turned out gorgeous!

A year or two ago I did a tutorial on making paper flowers like these — without the stems or pistil & stamens.  You can find that video below:

Do you get the idea or do you need to see how these book page flowers were constructed?  Let me know!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • I used your flower tutorial last year as a part of a paper flower day with my art group. We all brought in different flower designs and demonstrated them to the group. I don’t have a scan n cut but my friend does, so I asked her to cut one as a template and cut out the rest by hand, enough so everyone could make one flower. They really turned out beautifully, though I love your book page flowers bouquet even better.

  • Hi there Julie,
What a fantastic idea, for making a wedding bouquet. I have two friends that are both having weddings in October seems like the month to have one.
Neither of them have really decided yet on flowers both are thinking of mums but they are out already, the potted mums.
Not sure if they will be available really in October.
This might be an alternative. I love the Jane Austin page idea. Any favorite novel would do. Oh yes I can see the scan n cut at work here too.
I love the idea of mixing them with the faux flowers. This is another of your keepers for me. Thank you so much.

  • Just draw a ten sided flower and use the same process. Flowers are inherently uneven because they’re from nature. So feel free to play!
