As promised, here is my follow-up post to the post about the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The third floor of the museum is currently showing a wonderful Grayson Perry exhibit. Unfortunately his fabulous vases did not photograph well behind plexiglass and with all the glare from the lights. But, trust me, they are quirky and beautiful and disturbing and interesting and funny and weird and enormous.

If you're eagle-eyed, you'll notice the sketchbook page that later became an enormous tapestry. I thought the differences between the sketchbook page and the finished tapestry were interesting. (They weren't displayed by each other, which I also thought was an interesting curatorial choice.)
I found Grayson Perry's work grotesque and beautiful and offensive and thoughtful and just really fantastically interesting. If you get a chance to see his work in person, I highly recommend it.

Grayson Perry’s work reminds me of Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, at the Prado Museum. You can look at each piece for an hour, taking it all in. I never heard of Perry before, but he is fabulous!
