Art Journal Every Day: Pages from the Beginning of February 2016

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

One of my favorite things about working in my junque journals (journals made from leftover art projects) is that I'm never faced with a blank page.  When I sit down to journal I'm able to look at a messy page and it usually sparks my creativity.  If you don't have a junque journal, you can take away that blank page icki-ness by cleaning off your brushes in your journal, gluing random bits and bobs you find into your journal, testing new products in your journal — basically just finding ways to get stuff onto those blank pages.  Then when you sit down to actually work in your art journal, you'll be faced with inspiring messes to spark your creativity!

These pages were all inspired by the junque already on the pages.

A version of that heart with polka dots was already on the page when I sat down to create.

I loved the text patterned paper that you can see in her face and I wanted to let it show through.  The curl was inspired because I didn't want to lose those cool polka dots!

The face is a thermofax print that was already on the page.  I worked around it.

  • Love those days when seemingly, I cannot think straight. A note pad or a to-do list puts my kind at ease.
Thanks for sharing. I am most inspired!
