As soon as I saw the Molotow Masking Fluid Markers at Dick Blick, I knew I wanted to try them out! I've used frisket before, and always had trouble painting it on smoothly and evenly. These masking markers seemed like an awesome solution to that problem! Check out the video to see my experiments:
BTW: Some commenters on YouTube told me that (a) you shouldn't heat the masking fluid with a heat gun and (b) it is much easier to remove with the aid of a rubber cement eraser.
Here are the items I experimented on:
Have you tried out the Molotow Masking Fluid Markers? What did you think?
Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the demo. I haven’t used any masking fluids previously. I might have to see what I can get my hands on in Oz

Well, now I’ll have to shop at Dick Blick! And then I can take your advice “for real.” This looks fantastic.

These are super cool–and I like the fact that if you shake them, they still work, unlike some masking fluid. And I love the refill! I flick it over my piece to get cool splatters. It dries pretty fast, so no heat gun is required for the masking fluid. I suppose letting the paint or ink air dry can try one’s patience, though.

I know this from experience, your layer of acrylic paint was too thick and kinda sealed in the masking fluid. You have to be careful not to add too thick a layer of paint to be able to remove it successfully. Great demo, I want one now!
