Art Journal Every Day: Valentine’s Week Heart Journal Pages

from the Balzer Designs Blog: Art Journal Every Day #artjournal #artjournaleveryday

If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. If you've done some art journaling this week, use the hashtag #artjournaleveryday so that we can all take a peek.  Even if you're not on social media, you can see everything (from twitter, pinterest, instagram, and facebook) that uses that hashtag here.

I went on a search through the Art Journal Every Day hashtag to try to gather all of the heart-related art journal pages that I could find.  I found some love-ly (get it?) examples of people using heart motifs in their art journals.  I hope they inspire you to use some hearts of your own!

Donna Hurlbut is all about the love on her feed!  The first is a journal page and the second was just too cute not to share:

I found two heart-inclusive art journal pages on Pat Langley's feed:

I also spied two from Daire Paddy:

Here are two from me:

I love this homemade heart stencil from Cathy Cosgrove:

Tara Rodden Robinson created a flowery heart in her art journal:

I just really want to reach out and touch Anita Tillman's art journal.

And finally, I'm not sure if Paula MacMillan Perich's flowers were meant to have hearts, but I see them!

I hope you feel the love!  Thanks for stopping by!

  • Hi Julie,
These Journals are lovely. You too have inspired me.
I made a heart stamp with my Brother scan n cut and craft foam. I stamped a white card stock with red hearts inside and out. I then created a sentiment page and stamp some hearts on that too.
I have used my scan n cut to write all of my sentiments with both the universal pen holder and a sharpie and the standard pen holder and little pens.
Then I used my scan n cut to write out my sentiment. Glued it in the card. On the front of the card I used my scan n cut to write the words Happy Valentine’s Day. I have made four out of my five cards.
I also used water color paints and a negative heart cut out like a stencil and made a card full of different colored hearts.
I also use the scan n cut to cut out some of the heart designs found in the scan n cut and made heart cards that way too. I used the weld feature found in the scan n cut machines both older and the scan n cut2. to attach my hearts for a back and front of the card.
Thank you Julie for all your inspiration you are truly amazing. Happy Valentines Day to you all.
Such great talent abounds within these pages. Love Love Love it.

  • Wow. I was so excited to see my work on your blog, Julie, and humbled to be featured along side so many talented people. It was your blog, almost three years ago, that got me into art journaling, in the first place. It combined my love of ” mark making”, colour, and words. Thank you for inspiring me then and now.

  • Julie, I notice you keep your sets of carvings in mint tins–do you do the with all your stamps, or just the days and numbers?
