Hi! Wilna Furstenberg here and I am so happy to be doing a guest post for Julie today! I want to share with you a quick and simple way to make some mixed media gift wrap and we will be working mostly with ink pads to eliminate the paper buckling.

Steps 1-4

You can see I am using a white roll of paper and I cut the piece big enough to wrap the gift and taped it to my table to keep it open. Next I used an assortment of ink pad colors to “paint” the white paper with. Then I added some texture in the form of black dots with a giant roller and some back paint. Lastly in step 4 I did a few ink splatters.

 Steps 5-8

I used a Tim Holtz Stencil and sprayed it with silver spray paint. I love the opaque-ness of the spray paint and the shininess of it… Then I stamped with black ink and just painted lightly with some gesso to create some quietness on this busy paper.

Steps 9-11

Here you can see the paper is done and I flipped it over to cover my gift with. (That Peak Design Slide Strap is a fantastic camera strap by the way!)  You can see how pretty it looks all done. This whole process took me about 20 minutes.  You can also make a sheet like this to tear up and use in your art journals and or scrapbook layouts.

  • I loved your gift wrap lesson – AND I have a roll of white paper and a baby gift that needs attention – thanks for the ideas! And your “about me” list is the most interesting and entertaining one I’ve ever read. Best wishes!
