On my way out of New York, I've been ticking things off of my NYC bucket list. While I've been to the library many times in my sixteen years in NYC, I somehow never made it to the main branch building on 5th Avenue — the one you see in movies. It's a research library and event space nowadays, not a lending library, but totally worth a walk through. It's a beautiful building. Unfortunately, due to ongoing repairs, we weren't able to go into the famous and glorious Rose Reading Room, so I guess I'll just have to go back again! Nonetheless, there was plenty to see. Come with me for a looksie:
All of the details were perfection from the doorknobs to the stair treads!
I particularly enjoyed the "Public Eye" exhibit, all about photography.
I even found a real working phone booth (and had some fun taking goofy photos with my cell phone and the phone booth)!
If you're ever in New York City, the New York Public Library is definitely worth a visit. It's *free* and absolutely beautiful!
