Art Journal Every Day: Two New Junque Journals

ArtJournalEveryDayLogo-150If you're new to Art Journal Every Day, there is a short introduction here.  All of the previous posts can be found archived here.  There is a flickr group for sharing right here.  Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it.  If you've done some art journaling this week and you've blogged about it, or put it on flickr, please leave a link in the linky list at the end of this post.  Thanks!

As I mentioned on Monday, I made two new Junque Journals thanks to teaching a class at The Ink Pad.  The first one I made the night before class — touching all those supplies put me in the mood to make one!  The second one I made partially in class and then finished off when I got home that night.  They're fun and easy to make!

This method of binding is called a "tape binding."

As you can see, the stitching is done on top of "tapes" or ribbon.

Here's a peek at the journal I made the night before class (there are too many inside pages to show, so you'll see just a sampling from inside):

And here's the demo journal I created partially in class and then finished up afterwards (again, just a sampling from the inside):

I love Junque Journals for three reasons:

  1. Every single scrap of art I make can find a home in my Junque Journals.
  2. I never have to stare at a blank page and wonder what to do.
  3. It's the exact size and shape of journal that I like to use.

Have you made yourself a Junque Journal yet?

Here is this week's linky list:

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Julie, I love your junque journals – I tried to google instructions to do that type of binding but couldn’t find the right thing. Could you please provide some guidance on that? Thanks so much! Annette

  • I’ve not made one before, but definitely on my creative to do list. Love yours, and the beautiful metal covered one from the other day. I’m fairly new to art journaling, too. Thanks for sharing your artwork. Michelle t
