February is over and so is #28Patterns. I really enjoyed myself while also feeling like I was pushing and growing and trying new things. I made a chatty video about my 28 Patterns.
In the video (it's about 20 minutes long) I talk about the media I used, my thoughts on creating the patterns, mistakes, etc. If you don't have the time for the video, here are the patterns I haven't yet shared here on the blog:
For my final pattern, I decided to draw 28 individual patterns — each one completely created by a single shape: the circle.
Unpainted:
Colored:
Which do you prefer? The black and white or the color?
Thanks for stopping by!

I like the black and white patterns. You can view each square in different ways with the black and white

love your patterns, and the explanation that comes with them!
I have one question, what adhesive do you use to glue the parts of Gelli printed deli papers omto jour journal. I mostly use gel medium, but even the matte-one does leave a shiny surface, which I don’t like.
Thanks so much, Julie!
Love, Anne

I prefer the black and white designs because the designs show up so much better. The colored one is beautiful, but the color detracts from the design. Great idea for stretching your mind!

I liked the BW for the plan, but I am a color person and just loved your colors that show the possibilities of what color can add. Thank you for sharing with us.

I just discovered your blog a few weeks ago and am DEVOURING it!!! I have fallen head over heels with stamp carving, thanks to your beautiful and amazing designs! My question is, what do you do with the leftover bits that you carve from the block? I use a craft knife to cut as close as possible to get as many stamps from the block as possible, but is there any crafty ideas out there for those bits that pile up? Thanks for the info if you share any! Your work is amazing!

Love them both–but the black and white one has a bit more going for it because you can see all the details of the design–and how the artist moved through it.

I love the way you chatted through the video. As a learner, I am really engaged when the teacher shares their process, their thoughts. and their choices. Isn’t it amazing how much you can do with a single principle of design.

I love both the B&W and the color – they look so different – but if I had to choose, I would go with the color. I love all the details you added with the white pen, etc.
Thanks again for hosting such a fun & awesome challenge. I had never done patterns before and I’m so glad I played along.
By the way, do you have anything on your blog that discusses exactly what makes a pattern? Is it simply a repeated image or is there a more in-depth definition? I’m sure it is up for interpretation, and would make a good discussion, but I hadn’t really thought about it until I had to create one everyday!
