Today I'm sharing a ScanNCut video tutorial with you.  In the video I share a lacy gate fold thank you card.  Please note that in the beginning of the video I show how easy it is to take any .svg file and turn it into an .fcm file that your ScanNCut can cut!

And here are the cards with their matching envelopes:

I used a piece of washi tape to hold the card shut for this photo:

As I mentioned in the video, you can leave the card as is…

RedDetail-wm

…or you can slip a contrasting color of paper into the center section.

I've put this file up for sale if you'd like it.  The zip file I'm selling includes EIGHT (8) .svg files, each one with a different saying.  The sayings are: Thank You, Get Well, Congratulations, Happy Holidays, Miss You, Many Thanks, Happy Birthday and Love You.

Thanks for stopping by!

Please note: I am a paid spokesperson for the Brother ScanNCut, but all of the ideas, commentary, and enthusiasm are my own!

  • Love that card! I think you could permanently fix the gate closed and slide a piece of contrasting card stock in from the top and put your sentiment on the back of it so you don’t see all your handwriting through the front gate. I’m gonna own one of those scanncut machines some day. They’re amazing!! I like your designs and ideas to use it!

  • Love your card and ideas. I thought for sure you would use the packing tape to pick up the bits to make another card in the reverse. Too bad it didn’t pick up all the pieces, but I guess you could manually place them back on. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial. You’re the best.

  • Thanks Julie so much for this tutorial. Please keep making more for Scan N Cut. There is not much out there on this machine yet. You are really a good spokesperson for them. I bought mine when you were on QVC and I love it. QVC lets you purchase on a 5 month payment plan without extra charge for those of you who want the machine and don’t feel you can afford it in a lump sum. I also bought the download for this design, I think it will help me create my own designs in similar fashion. I too expected you to say you would use the packing tape on a journal page! I think it would be great. P.S. I love the Scan N Cut for cutting fabric as well.

I also got the ScanNCut Machine through HSN (you do a wonderful job for ScanNCut)…love it! I have a question…when I use card stock, it frays along the edges when I fold it…what paper do you use for this card? I’m sure some of your students can help me with this question. Thank you in advance for your answer to this question…Sue

  • Julie,
Please help with a question. There is a new foiled bag project on Scan N Cut Canvas site. In the video I notice that part of the project is held in place by some adhesive strips. My question is this: do you know what those strips are, where to get them, and have you used them in your work with Scan N Cut?
