Like the rest of the world I sometimes find myself wandering through the internet.  Today I wanted to share a few of my recent favorite discoveries.

This video is super cool.  Watch the eyes!

Art Abandonment — such an interesting idea from Michael deMeng.  And now there's even a book about it coming out!

ArtAbandonmentBook

I love the idea of finding random art from some generous stranger.  I'm going to keep my eyes open for it!  We'll see if I manage to become brave enough to leave some somewhere….

One of my favorite infographics I've ever seen:

I found it here.

I love the content.  I love the illustration style. I love the whole thing!  It makes me want to try creating an infographic of my own, but I also feel intimidated by it.  On the to-do list, nonetheless!

Lots of folks have riffed on the famous Elements of Style.  One of my favorite illustrators, Maira Kalman, created an illustrated version.  When I came across this rap version, it had me giggling, so I needed to share:

The Elements of Style from Jake Heller on Vimeo.

While the video isn't strictly art-related, it does inspire me.  In some ways, it's an illustration — simply in a different format.

So, what's inspiring you lately?

Thanks for stopping by!

  • The cartoons bring a certain restaurant to my mind. It’s called The Palm. There are several locations in NYC. The restaurant has cartoon drawings covering ever bit of space on the walls.

  • I sent your blog to all my English teacher and art friends and to my new daughter-in-law who is a chef. I loved all your “finds”. As a former English teacher I especially liked the rap. LOL

  • I really enjoyed the morphing women video! Quite stunning!
I think you would do a great job with an art project like the DeMengs are working on. Their stuff is wonderful but off of the beaten path, sometimes a little *too* far off the path! Your work is much more accessible without being “cookie-cutter.” People would be lining up to get your stuff! I know I have loved much of your work and your jewelry is both hip and flattering. If I lived in NYC, I’d definitely seek you out if you ever did something like this. I say you should give it a try. How about doing a demo or two for people just walking by? Not cost effective but people would love it! I know I would!!
