I've been doing a lot of stamp carving lately and as a consequence, I've got lots of leftover rubber scraps.  I hate to waste it, so I make "trash" stamps: random little designs on the leftover scraps.

All3-wm

The first stamp is what I call a "really useful stamp."  It's a simple design — nothing sexy, just a basic — that you can play with and use in a number of graphic ways.

Striped-wm

The second stamp is a repeating stamp.  When it's stamped repeatedly it makes a (mostly) seamless design.

Curly-wm

The third stamp is the biggest and the most interesting, in my opinion.  It's a simple geometric design, but I think it has a lot of impact.

Diamond-wm

And here's a peek at everything all together:

What do you think?  Which stamp is your favorite?

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Hi Julie – I also do “trash” stamps with my leftover rubber! For it’s simplicity, I like the stripes best, and I LOVE the woven pattern you created. But I also love the geometric design too! A lot of my stamps have simple geometric designs, too. Happy carving!

  • Great trash stamps, Julie! I like all three but the classy diamond design is my fav. πŸ™‚ I have saved a ton of red rubber trim but haven’t done anything with it. After seeing your trash stamps, I’ll have to search the web for ideas on how to get started to perhaps make something with them. Thanks for the inspiration.

I don’t need them for the curtain so I’m excited to use them for stamps. It’s fun to have simple stamps because like you said they can really make an impact! Thanks for the inspiration! xx
